Cissuslean®

Additional Functional Properties

While Cissuslean® is primarily positioned for healthy weight and body-composition management, research has explored additional functional properties of its naturally occurring polyphenols, flavonoids and saponins.

Supports a Healthy Inflammatory Response

Cissuslean® contains quercetin, isorhamnetin, luteolin, resveratrol and piceatannol. In a published rat OA model, a Cissus extract containing quercetin and isorhamnetin reduced markers associated with joint inflammation and supported cartilage integrity.

Joint Comfort & Cartilage Support

Human clinical evaluation at 300 mg/day in adults with knee osteoarthritis showed improvements in WOMAC pain, stiffness and physical function, alongside reductions in IL-6, MMP-3, leukotriene B4 and hs-CRP.

Lipid Metabolism

In the 12-week weight-management trial, participants showed favorable changes in total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, VLDL and HDL, complementing improvements in body-fat measures.

Visceral & Abdominal Fat

CT-measured visceral fat area decreased significantly in the active group versus placebo, alongside reductions in waist and hip circumference — outcomes relevant to abdominal-obesity strategies.

Adipokine Regulation

Adiponectin increased and leptin declined more substantially in the Cissuslean® group, suggesting favorable changes in adipose-tissue signalling associated with metabolic health.

Lean-Mass Preservation

DEXA analysis showed reductions in body fat mass and body-fat percentage while lean mass was maintained — a valuable property for body-composition and active-ageing formulations.
