Research Highlights
Cissuslean® is supported by a growing research programme comprising two preclinical studies and two randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trials. The studies investigate its effects on body composition, metabolic health, knee comfort and joint function.

12-week body composition trial
In a 12-week randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 100 overweight or obese adults, participants receiving Cissuslean® demonstrated statistically significant reductions in body fat mass and body fat percentage. Per-protocol analysis included 45 participants in the Cissuslean® group and 41 in the placebo group.
- 1.78 cm reduction in waist circumference vs. a 0.90 cm increase with placebo
- 2.24 cm reduction in hip circumference vs. a 1.02 cm increase with placebo
- Reductions in visceral, subcutaneous and total abdominal fat
- Maintenance of lean mass
- Favourable changes in lipid profiles, adiponectin and leptin
- No serious adverse events or clinically significant laboratory changes
84-day knee osteoarthritis trial
A separate 84-day randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluated Cissuslean® at 300 mg daily in adults with knee osteoarthritis. The Cissuslean® group achieved a 45.66% reduction in total WOMAC score and a 21.29% reduction in VAS pain score. Improvements were also reported in stiffness, physical function and inflammatory markers, including IL-6, LTB4, hs-CRP and MMP-3.
